Really overexposed Akshay-Katrina?

There was a time when a complaint was making rounds that Akshay-Katrina 'jodi' had been overexposed, case in point being 'Singh Is Kinng', 'Welcome' and 'Namastey London', all of which had come in quick succession. Later, even though the pair was seen only sparsely in films like 'De Dana Dan' and 'Blue', it was being stated in the industry circles that the hit couple would be doing many more movies together.



However, this didn't quite happen as Akshay and Katrina didn't sign any new movies thereafter. The only film which would now bring them back in front of audience is 'Tees Maar Khan' and that would be more than a year after 'De Dana Dan'.

Says Shirish Kunder, the film's co-producer,

"We had done the calculations while signing on Katrina. To begin with we wanted a newcomer who had to be someone like Katrina. Then we thought why not Katrina herself? After all between 'De Dana Dan' and 'Tees Maar Khan', there was no film planned with the two together. A one year gap is substantial enough for audience to crave for more."

Today when the 'jodi' is being received with open arms all over again, the makers can't help but feel elated.

"Guess we just turned lucky here," smiles Farah Khan, "Audience is pretty much anticipating this 'jodi' to ignite the screen all over again and I am sure they won't go home disappointed."

t is a known fact that Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would be seen in a retro avatar, courtesy the 70s setting of 'Action Replayy'. However, what is not known to many is that the duo would also be seen as an aged couple in the current times. While Aishwarya would be seen as a 55 year old lady, Akshay would be donning the persona of a 60 year old man. Also, they won't be making a flash appearance in this look and would actually have a few substantial scenes to establish their relationship as a couple that has been married for decades.

Confirms Vipul Shah, the maker of 'Action Replayy', "Akshay and Ash were the only people whom I could see as playing an old couple that looked good even at that age. With Akshay, I have worked in four films earlier so I knew that it would be fun. As for the leading lady, I wanted someone who would look good not just as a 20 something girl from the 70s but also turn into someone who could play the role of a mother. Other than Ash, I couldn't think of anyone else who could do justice to such a role with grace and elan."



Those who have seen the rushes (where Akshay and Ash play an aged couple) of the film do vouch for the fact that they do indeed look convincing. Come 5th November when the film releases all over and it would be out there for the audience to pass their verdict as well.

Action Replayy is an upcoming Hindi film, directed by Vipul Shah, starring Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai and Neha Dhupia in lead roles. Randhir Kapoor will play an important role in the film.

It is based on a 1994 Gujarati Indian play of the same name. Action Replayy is a time travel comedy tale based on Mumbai in the fifties. It is currently is the post-production stage.
