Anjali in Mankatha

Venkat Prabhu has signed up Angadi theru fame Anjali to play Vaibhav’s pair in Mankatha. The film has Ajith playing the main lead with Trisha as his on-screen pair. That apart, Venkat has a galaxy of stars including Arjun, Lakshmi Rai, Premji Amaren etc.



On accepting the offer, Anjali says that she never wanted to miss out on such a golden opportunity that gets to star in Ajith’s film so early in her career. Though she will not be paired up opposite Ajith, her presence in the film would suffice, Anjali opines.

Yuvan sings with dad for Mankatha

Ajith’s ‘Mankatha’ is changing to top gear sooner than expected and Venkat Prabhu is in full control of the game. The director is planning to have all the songs ready before the shoot starts and Yuvan Shankar Raja is also matching the spirit of Venkat Prabhu and recording them.

As always, ‘Mankatha’ will also have terrific songs, Yuvan says. The highlight of the music album and also the film later is going to be a song sung by Ilaiyaraja and Yuvan Shankar Raja together.

It is for the first time that this dad-son combo has rendered their voices to feature in the same song. It’s going to be a treat, you bet.

And on the field, the shooting of Mankatha will start on 25th October. Venkat Prabhu is planning the release of the film next year on Ajith's birthday which is May 1.

Vaibhav in Ajith's Mankatha

The date is finally out and the game ‘Mankatha’ is all set to kick-start on October 25. Ajith Kumar has gained new looks after his regular visits to gym. Portions involving Nagarjuna will be shot as the actor is back from his Telugu projects.



The first schedule is reported of being filmed in Chennai with Ajith Kumar and Premji Amaran. The latest addition to the project is Telugu-Tamil actor Vaibhav.....

Ajith's much-awaited 50th film 'Mankatha', directed by Venkat Prabhu, was launched on August 2, 2010.

The teaser trailer of 'Mankatha' has already created a lot of buzz in the industry. Telugu superstar Nagarjuna will play a prominent role in this bilingual (Tamil and Telugu) film. Ajith will play Nagarjuna's role in the Telugu version and vice versa.

The latest buzz is that Jacqueline Fernandez will play a prominent role in 'Mankatha'. Others in the cast include Neetu Chandra and Lakshmi Rai.

Mankatha: More action, less comedy

‘Chennai 600028’ was about sports. ‘Saroja’ was a thriller. And his last venture ‘Goa’ was a romantic entertainer. But a common thread in all these three films of Venkat Prabhu is comedy.

However, this important factor of Venkat Prabhu movies will get only less importance in his next venture ‘Mankatha’.

"The 50th film of Ajith will be an ultimate action entertainer,"

say sources in the know.

"Since Ajith is an A-list actor with a huge fan following and this being his 50th film, Venkat has decided to make it as an action movie with a mass appeal,” sources say. Confirming this, the director too says,

“Mankatha will be a serious action film with very little comedy."

Meanwhile, buzz is that Ajith and Tollywood top hero Nagarjuna, who play the lead roles in ‘Mankatha’, will swap their characters in the Telugu version of the movie. Produced by Dhayanidhi Alagiri, ‘Mankatha’ went to floors recently.

Those who saw Karthi’s Naan Mahaan Alla on its opening day , was surprised to see ‘Thalai’ Ajith’s Venkat Prabhu directed Mankatha three minute slick trailer.



The trailer is shot in sepia grey style, looks black and white, bullet holes in the background Ajit’s silhouette is shown holding a gun in his hand. There is a scrawling which says it is a 2011 summer release.

Cloud Nine is showing the trailer before NMA starts and just after interval, to create a curiosity buzz around the film.

The film was formally launched on 2 August 2010 at the AVM Studios in Vadapalani, Chennai in a simple manner, following which the film's shooting commenced with the principal photography. The filming will begin in August end.

Ajithkumar’s 50th film Mangatha to be directed by Venkat Prabhu commenced on 2nd August with a somber pooja at A V M Rajeswari studios, Chennai. Coincidentally, Ajith entered filmdom on August 2nd eighteen years ago. This golden jubilee film of Ajith is being produced by Dhayanidhi Azhagiri for Cloud Nine films.

While talking about Mangatha, director Venkat Prabhu says, “I am glad to start Mangatha on this auspicious day wherein Ajith began his filmi journey 18 years back. We are shooting the trailer of the film which will be screened in theatres soon.” He went on to add that Mangatha will be a 2011 summer bonanza.

The heroine of the film is yet to be finalized. Telugu star Nagarjuna is playing an important role in Mangatha and along with Premji Amaran, there would be a newcomer by name Mahath. Major part of the film is slated to be canned in exotic overseas locales.

The event saw a dapper Ajith in a grey shirt flashing his trademark smile. The puja was attended by Vivek Rathnavel of Cloud Nine films, Gangai Amaran, S P B Charan, producer Siva, A V M Kumaran and A V M Saravanan along with the technical team of the film.

Simbu's meaty role with Ajith in 'Mangatha'

It appears that finally, actor Ajith has made up his mind to re-launch his film career and get started with his next project to be directed by Venkatprabhu. Reports say that the actor has conveyed his ‘whole-hearted’ willingness to the actor-turned-director Venkatprabhu to star in his next film titled ‘Mangatha’.



Ajith is said to be in a hurry to complete the film’s shooting before October this year when he would leave for Europe again to take part in the motor car racing championships. Meanwhile, one hears that actor Simbu, a self-confessed fan of Ajith, may also play a small but meaty role in the film.

Simbu, who imitated Ajith’s ‘Billa’ style in his film ‘Silambattam’ which released last year, is to further reiterate his allegiance to Ajith by starring alongside him in the film. Simbu, who has completed almost 90% of the shooting of his ‘Poda Podi’ in Canada, is said to be planning to shoot the remaining sequences in Tamil Nadu.

Though Simbu isn’t the director of the film which pairs him up opposite Sarath Kumar’s daughter Varalakshmi, it’s a known fact that he ‘ghost’ directs most of his films!
