No More Single for Silambarasan

Following the success of Yuvan Shankar Raja's 'Vaanam' and 'Mankatha', everyone in tinsel town is bitten by the habit of releasing single-track album for their films. Apparently, Silambarasan wanted to release the single track of 'Osthi' by this week. On the spur of moment, he has changed plans so as to release the album directly by first week of October.

Sharing his views on this sudden decision, actor Silambarasan has said, "We are deliberately delaying the single because the main audio is releasing on October 6th along with the trailer. So there is not much of time for the single. So it might b a direct audio launch without the single. 4 songs are complete and by next week the last song which is Munni will b done…"

2010 hit films:

The films which are released in 2010 are in high in number, but the numbers of the films which are blockbuster hits or hits are comparatively very low in number. Only 11 films have been successful at the box office in 2010. Let’s take a look at the films.

Thamizh Padam

Thamizh Padam has bagged a hit at the start of the year and everyone has come to an opinion that the year is going to excel. The film has brought in a new genre to Kollywood and was a super success at the box office. The film was made on a budget of Rs 2.5 crore and the trade reports reveal that the film has collected Rs 8.23 crore

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa

Gautham Menon’s direction, AR Rahman’s music along with the star cast has paved for the film to be a hit. The film was released in Tamil and Telugu and received great reviews. The film was made with a budget of Rs 14 crores and has earned Rs 18 crores at the box office. Undoubtedly the film enrolled itself as the first biggest hit of the year-2010.

Angadi Theru

The film with realistic touch has pulled the audience to the big screen. Angadi Theru directed by Vasanthabalan has enough drama and has brought the inhuman situations that happen in Chennai’s city life. The film received positive reviews and was appreciated by critics for the honest and brave attempt. The budget of the film is Rs 3 crore and to a surprise the film collected Rs 15 crore at the box office and stood as a big hit in 2010.

Paiyaa

Paiyaa starring Karthi and Tamannah in the lead roles is said to be a surprise hit of the year. Directed by Lingusamy the film has nothing to mention special but the presentation and music apart from Tamannah’s glamour made the film to list in the hit list of 2010. Paiyaa was made with a budget of Rs 12 crore and the film collected Rs 30 crore.

Singam

Suriya has reached the big screen as Singam directed by Hari. The film is an action entertainer and had a great reach in the mass audience. The highlights of the film are Suriya, seducing beauty Anushka and Devi Sri Prasad’s music. Singam was made with a budget of Rs 15crore and has collected approximately Rs 40crore. The film is strictly declared as a hit and it was a great treat for Suriya’s fans.

Kalavani

The film is indeed a surprise hit of the year and surely need to be listed in the top list. The lead pair Vimal and Ooviya has done a great job and the film is said to be a full time entertainer. The budget of the film is Rs 1.5crore and the gross revenue is Rs 3.5crore.

Madraspattinam

The film has taken Arya to the next level and Vijay’s skills in direction paved the way for the success of the film. This historical drama starring Arya and Amy Jackson in the lead roles created waves at the box office. The budget of the film is Rs 40crore and the film has earned the expected revenues.

Boss Engira Baskaran

Arya’s second hit film in 2010, the film is released on EID day with 240 screens. Surprisingly the film made the best ever opening on the first day with 95.5 percent theater occupancy. The film is an out and out comedy entertainer with Arya and Nayanthara playing the lead roles. Director Rajesh has once again succeeded in entertaining the audience.

Endhiran

Endhiran blockbuster of the year and the highest grosser at the box office proved that Indian cinema is no where lesser than a Hollywood film. Shankar’s direction, Rajinikanth’s acting style and Aishwarya’s glamour, A R Rahman's musical extravaganza are said to be the key factors of the success. The high technical values, along with science fiction theme made Endhiran a must watch film. Sun pictures have produced with a budget of Rs160 crore and the film earned a gross revenue of Rs 400crore.

Nandalala

The film is all about the journey of a boy in search of his mother and the director joins the journey in the midway, which is enjoyable. Though the film resembles a Japanese film, director has added the Tamil flavor to the film and succeeded in entertaining the audience.

Dhanush and Simbhu at ‘Social Network’ Premiere Show

Dhanush and Simbu who were assumed to follow the footsteps of Ajith Kumar and Vijay in film rivalries are proving it to be wrong. At the initial stages friction between the relationship of Simbu and Dhanush did exist. But in the recent times the youngsters are turning the story the other way round.

Simbu and Dhanush were present at the preview show of 'The Social Network' movie at Satyam Cinemas, Chennai. Both the stars spotted each other and shared lighter moments. The actors posed patiently for the press and were discussing many things with a big smile in their faces.

Simbu Bharath and Anushka in Vaanam | Vaanam images Vaanam photos

Vaanam (English: Sky) is a forthcoming Indian Tamil action-drama film written and directed by Krish. A remake of his own 2010 Telugu film Vedam, the film stars Silambarasan, Sneha Ullal, Sonia Agarwal, Prakashraj, Bharath and Anushka Shetty in the lead roles. Jointly produced by Ganesh Janardhanan and Githan Ramesh, the film, featuring music, cinematography and editing by Yuvan Shankar Raja, Nirav Shah and Anthony Gonsalves, respectively, is currently in its production stage and expected to release on 5 November, during Diwali 2010.

Vaanam Audio Launch in London

‘VTV’ Ganesh, producer of STR-Anushka starrer 'Vaanam', has come out with an explanation as to why they choose to launch the film's audio in London.



"We launched the music of ‘Vinnaithandi Varuvaya’ in London and the film and its songs turned out to be super hit. We just want to cash in on the trend", says Ganesh, who is one of the producers of 'VTV', which also had Silambarasan in the lead.

He adds: "Yuvan Shankar Raja has come out with excellent songs and each on of them has the potential to become a chartbuster. The audio launch function in London on October 15 will mark the beginning of a success journey".

A multi-starrer, 'Vaanam' also has Bharath, Vega, Prakash Raj and Sonia Agarwal in lead roles. Inspired by Telugu blockbuster 'Vedam', the film is being directed by Krish, who has whelmed the Telugu version too.

Simbu’s Vaanam songs on October 15th

Simbu who has almost completed his shooting part for the Vaanam movie is all set to entertain his fans on 15th this month!

It is well known that he sung a song in the Vaanam movie and this song is all set for release on 15th.

Sources say that this song is the highlight of the movie with awesome lyrics. Right now Simbu and Anushka are shooting in and around Chennai for the movie and recently Simbu said that Anushka is one of the most awesome actress that he worked with.

Vaanam Goes The Way Of Kaavalan And Mangaatha

First it happened with Vijay’s ‘Kaaval Karan’ that was renamed as ‘Kaaval Kadhal’ and finally ‘Kaavalan’. Incisively, Ajith Kumar’s ‘Mangaatha’ had a small change as ‘Mankatha’ as Venkat Prabhu’s numerologist insisted to make it.



Finally, Silambarasan follows the path of Vijay and Ajith Kumar. His relevance with Vijay and Ajith Kumar popped up from the time when he refused ‘3 Idiots’ remake offer. However, the reason for title change plans isn’t mainly due to copyrights and luck factor. This is all because the actor feels the title ‘Vaanam’ looks plain and doesn’t suit the film’s theme.

The discussions are being held within the team and will be finalized shortly once he is back from the shooting of ‘Poda Podi’ in London.
