Valentine's Day romantic flicks on Tamil Cinema Industry

Film industry has always targeted the Valentine’s Day season for the release of their romantic flicks. This is considered to be the best time of the year to release the romantic films because love will be at its peak among the youngsters.



Kollywood is also following the same trend from last few years. In 2009, director Rajesh released the Jeeva and Anuya starrer romantic comedy Siva Manasula Sakthi on Valentine’s Day. The soft romantic flick with Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music went on to become a sleeper hit. In 2010, Gautham Menon directed romantic film Vinnaithandi Varuvaayaa became one of the super hit movies of the year.

Now in 2011, two romantic musicals are lined for February release, one is KV Anand’s Ko and the other is Prabhu Deva’s Engeyum Kaadhal. Prabhu Deva’s assistant AC Mugil is also planning to release his debut film Kandaen in this month. Vijay Ebenezer has composed music of this film and it has already become a chartbuster.

The producers and distributors are also desperate to release their movies in the month. A leading distributor was quoted saying that they want most of the Tamil films to release in February because World Cup will start after this and then IPL will follow. He thinks the viewers will prefer romantic movies at this point of time.

Engeyum Kadhal on Diwali

Harris Jayaraj has scored music for the film and this is the second time Harris and Jayam Ravi are coming together.

‘Engeyum Kadhal’ was earlier titled as ‘Paris’ and later as ‘ICH’. However as the title wasn’t suitable for the film, one of the song’s title has been taken as the title for this movie.

Nirav Shah has handled cinematography for the film and he has shot the film stylishly with rich colors. The film is getting released on November 5 for the occasion of Diwali.

Ich renamed as Engeyum Kaadhal | Prabhu Deva, Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani

Director Prabhu Deva’s upcoming movie ‘Ich’ has been renamed as ‘Engeyum Kaadhal’ (Love is everywhere). This has been officially confirmed and announced by the director.The film stars Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles. This movie is expected to be more romantic with commercial aspects. The director Prabhu Deva believing his sentiments, will appear in the beginning of the movie.



He will introduce the characters of the movie played by Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani.The movie has completed its shooting except for the two songs which he will complete after his ”Urumi’ project. ‘ Urumi’ is produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram and is expected to be released this November.

Jayam Ravi is Father Now!!

Jayam Ravi is blessed with a baby boy. His wife Aarthi delivered a healthy baby boy in the Apollo Hospitals, Chennai at 4 pm today. Ravi married Aarthi in June 2009. A visibly happy Editor Mohan family was seen distributing sweets in the hospital and among the film fraternity after the news.



Ravi's Thillalangadi is under post production and he also has Ich and Aadhi Bhagavan in the making. Behindwoods.com wishes Ravi and his family on the occasion.

Tamanna More Glamourous Than Ever In Thillalangadi

Jayam Ravi and Tamanna have acted together for the movie ‘Thillalangadi’ that which has been set to release in the coming months. During a recent interview, Jayam Ravi was asked about the glamorous role of Tamanna, he laughed and shared the experiences he had while shooting the movie.

Ravi told the reporters that this movie was the highest budget movie of his home production company. Vadivelu, Santhanam, Ganja Karuppu and Sathyan are handling the comedy portion of the movie. Tamannaah has acted very glamorously in a movie for the first time and you can see the beautiful side of Tamanna in this movie.

Adhi Baghawan : Ameer and Jayam Ravi

Jayam Ravi and Ameer had plans to work together in Kannabiran but the project got shelved and a new venture is announced which also has Ravi in the lead and has been titled Adhi Baghawan. This will be the first time Ameer makes a film for a hero before finalizing script. Adhi Baghawan comes with a punch line Kanmoodithanamana Kadhal meaning irrational love.



The music for this film is nocked by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Gurudev wields camera. Producer of Adhi Baghawan, J Anbazhagan is a former MLA.

Aadhi Bhagavan will be made in Tamil as well as in Telugu with Rana Daggubati as the lead in latter.

Mamta Mohandas is the heroine. She is currently working in Amal Neerad's Anwar. The posters of that film has attracted Ameer and he casted Mamta in Aadhi Bhagavan. She plays an NRI in the film.

Her latest film in Malayalam, Kadha Thudarunnu directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, the director of many family flicks, is gaining momentum in theatres. After her debut in Malayalam movie Mayookham, she ventured into Tamil for some spicy roles, but couldn't be successful, and her acting career took a downward trend. During the plunge in acting, Mamta successfully attempted at singing and has many hits to her credit like 'Daddy Mummy....' She also pocketed many awards including the Filmfare award for singer and is now a regular under Devi Sri Prasad.

Now, with enough films in her book, she is making a return to acting.

Simbhu sings for Jayam Ravi in Thilalangadi

Silambarasan has cronned yet another song under his all time favourite music director Yuvan Shankar Raja, for Jayam Ravi’s Thilalangadi directed by Jayam Raja.

The song Patta Patta Pattapuchi… written by NA Muthukumar has been sung in a very peppy manner by Simbu. Yuvan was told by Raja to compose a song on the lines of Kozhi Veda Kozhi… from the director’s earlier Something , Something Unakum Enakum.

For Yuvan it was challenge to make such a racy number and live up to the expectation of his director. When Ravi heard the tune he recommended the name of Simbu, who later recorded it in three hours. The song will be picturised on Ravi and Tamanna on a set to be put up in a Chennai studio.
