Srikanth looks so youth: Nanban Magic

Actor Srikanth has been struggling to gain a foothold in the Tamil film industry for many years now. He has finally got a big break as he will be sharing screen space with the likes of Vijay, Jiiva, Satyaraj, Lawrence, and S. J Suryah for Shankar’s ambitious Nanban. The actor is thrilled and is willing to do anything to capitalize on this opportunity.

Shankar wanted him to lose weight so that he will look convincing playing a college boy. So Srikanth has put himself on a crash diet and has only one or two small meals a day. The results are in and he has lost oodles of weight and is looking young and fresh.

Srikanth said that starvation is a small price to pay for a role of this magnitude. He says that the only reward he seeks for his hard work and great effort is the applause of an appreciative audience. Kudos and good luck to this persevering star in the making.

Valentine's Day romantic flicks on Tamil Cinema Industry

Film industry has always targeted the Valentine’s Day season for the release of their romantic flicks. This is considered to be the best time of the year to release the romantic films because love will be at its peak among the youngsters.



Kollywood is also following the same trend from last few years. In 2009, director Rajesh released the Jeeva and Anuya starrer romantic comedy Siva Manasula Sakthi on Valentine’s Day. The soft romantic flick with Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music went on to become a sleeper hit. In 2010, Gautham Menon directed romantic film Vinnaithandi Varuvaayaa became one of the super hit movies of the year.

Now in 2011, two romantic musicals are lined for February release, one is KV Anand’s Ko and the other is Prabhu Deva’s Engeyum Kaadhal. Prabhu Deva’s assistant AC Mugil is also planning to release his debut film Kandaen in this month. Vijay Ebenezer has composed music of this film and it has already become a chartbuster.

The producers and distributors are also desperate to release their movies in the month. A leading distributor was quoted saying that they want most of the Tamil films to release in February because World Cup will start after this and then IPL will follow. He thinks the viewers will prefer romantic movies at this point of time.

Tamil film 'Ko' on Diwali

Jeeva’s career graph is going through a rapid phase of success as his previous three films – ‘Thennavattu’, ‘Siva Manasula Sakthi’ and ‘Kacheri Arambam’. His next film ‘Ko’ is now completed with a song left to be shot.

The entire crew has now flown down to Mumbai for some patch-up works and K.V. Anand is planning to shoot the song in abroad.

The film is expected to be a political thriller that revolves around a photo journalist Ashwin (Jeeva) and his clashes with group of politicians. Ajmal is portrayed as a grey-shaded character while yesteryear actress Radha’s daughter Karthika and Piyaa perform the female lead characters.

Harris Jayaraj has scored music and Richard Nathan handles cinematography.

Vijay-Jeeva-Siddarth in 3 Idiots?

It is a known news that Gemini Film Circuit has acquired South Indian remake rights of 3 Idiots for a hefty price.

The latest buzz in the Kolly town is ace director Shankar will be directing the Tamil remake of Bollywood block buster 3 Idiots, starred Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi in the lead roles.

Meanwhile, rumours are afloat that most top heroes here are interested in being a part of the remake, albeit on their own terms.

If reports are to be believed, Shankar has decided the lead star cast, Vijay, Jeeva and Siddarth have been selected to play the three lead roles.

Though 3 Idiots turned out to be a mega hit in Hindi, not everybody is convinced it will work commercially in Tamil or Telugu. Leading producer says,

"It is very tough to remake 3 Idiots in Tamil or Telugu. Films with a soft nature don’t generally turn out to be blockbusters in these languages. Films that are action-oriented turn out to be blockbusters here."

Jeeva does a Maddy role in 3 idiots

Jeeva will be an extremely pleased man with the offers he’s been receiving. News circulating in Kodambakkam says that Jeeva has accepted a role in the Tamil remake of Hindi blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’.



Digging more on it we found out that the role offered to Jeeva will be that of Madhavan’s role in the original. Without a second thought, Jeeva has said to have accepted the role.

It’s already the steaming news in Kollywood that Vijay will don the role of Amir Khan. So there’s only one idiot left, oops we mean only one main character left besides the heroine. The media’s ears and eyes are wide opened to know who!

Other members of the cast and crew are being decided by the producers. The Tamil version is being made by reputed south Indian film production company, Gemini Film Circuit. Now that Vijay and Jeeva are part of the project, the movie’s expectations are only increasing even before going on floors.
